“There is no doubt that the population of the West deserves a much more differentiated and much larger hospital”, said Manuel Pizarro, in Caldas da Rainha, where he announced the choice of Quinta do Falcão, in Bombarral, district of Leiria, as the best location for the new hospital unit.

This, added the Minister of Health, “is only possible by transforming the current hospital center, with several units spread across several cities, into a single building that has a certain centrality and that allows for this concentration [of services] that will allow the technical differentiation of the hospital".

The decision, communicated today to the 12 municipalities in the West “is not unanimous”, but it is the one that the Ministry considered ideal given the location “in the geographic center of the region, with beautiful road accessibility, two minutes from Highway 8 and less four minutes from a railway station”, explained the official.
