The announcement was made through ITAVA, SINDAV, STHA and SIMAMEVIP, unions of the Vinci group company that provides ground handling services at Portuguese airports.

“It is known that, after eight months of application of the AE2020 [Company Agreement in 2020], the company unilaterally decided to change the way of calculating the payment of holidays on a scale, contrary to the spirit that had been agreed (change of the coefficient 1.50 to 0.50)“, accuse the unions, in a statement.

According to ITAVA, SINDAV, STHA and SIMAMEVIP, the Company Agreement provides that “work performed on a public holiday, which is a normal working day, will entitle you to an increase of 50% of the corresponding remuneration.”

“From the very beginning, these four unions sought, in the most varied ways, for Portway to recognise our reason and return to payment in accordance with the negotiating spirit”, they continue.

“There is no other alternative than strike for all overtime work from July 19th and for an indefinite period; strike at work on a public holiday that is a normal working day, as of August 1st and for an indefinite period; and total strike on July 30th and 31st, August 5th and 6th”, they conclude.
