The Portuguese passport is now ranked in 5th place, alongside countries like Malta and New Zealand, as it allows entry into 187 countries.

Singapore has replaced Japan at the top of the list and is now the most powerful passport in the world, according to the 'Henley Passport Index: Q3 2023 Global Ranking', published by the consultancy Henley & Partners.

Singapore citizens' passport allows visa-free entry to 192 of the world's 227 destinations, which is why it is now regarded as the most powerful in the world.

In 2nd place are passports from Germany, Italy and neighbouring Spain, which allow entry into 190 countries.
