The red flag was raised due to an order from the captaincy of the port of Portimão after analyses by the Portuguese Environment Agency revealed microbiological values above the reference parameters.

This is the fourth beach in the Algarve that has been closed in the space of a week due to bathing conditions. In the cases of Quarteira, Vale do Lobo and Olhos de Água the ban lasted about 24 hours.

The result of the new analyses is expected sometime today.
