The event will have national musicians as well as artists originating from Norway and the United States, the Guarda council stated in a press statement sent to Lusa.

The Blues Festival is organised by the municipality through the Guarda Municipal Theatre, “which renovates once more the partnership with the oldest and most experienced blues association in the country, BB Blues Portugal,” according to the press release for the event on BB Blues’ website.

The four concerts of free entry start at 9:30pm.

On the first day, Thursday, August 10th, a concert by Eric Slim Zahl & The South West Swingers, from Norway, is foreseen, which will bring “a blues with a lot of swing and rockabilly influences, in a highly energetic, enthusiastic and contagious style.”

The next day, El Pavoni & The Moonshine Tones take the stage, a project by Ruben El Pavoni, who has “over decades’ experience as a professional musician.”

According to the local government, the Portuguese artist privileges a “fusion of blues and rockabilly, and as a bassist, he’s already accompanied some international names such as John Németh.”

On Saturday the 12th it’s José Ramirez Band’s turn to play, with a project “rooted in the United States of America that had a blazing debut year in 2021with a Best Emerging Artist nomination at the Blues Awards and a second place at the International Blues Challenge, in Memphis.”

The last day of the event will include a concert by Budda Power Blues Collective, a group from Braga that presents itself as a sextet with contributions from João Martins, Rui Pedro Silva e João Andressen.

“Specialised in the sound of New Orleans and the classics of Stax and Chess Records, the group has maintained the seductive power of their live concerts, turning each set into a unique and electrifying moment,” the statement concludes.
