Tiago Castelo Branco, executive director of Mot, expressed his delight at the 11th edition of the festival, held at Praia do Relógio, in Figueira da Foz, for receiving, on July 5th, “a superstar of electronic music worldwide” and highlighted the responsibility that the promoting company has in guaranteeing Steve Aoki has the cake that the DJ throws in the faces of festival-goers during his performance.

“I've been doing this for several years and I've never received a request like this in my life, I've received silly requests from 'riders', but I've never had a 'cake rider'. For the first time, we will have to take special care with the pastry”, joked Tiago Castelo Branco.

The cake with cream that the North American DJ throws from the stage into the faces of people in the front rows - a trademark of Steve Aoki's shows for over a decade - has its own dimensions, ingredients and textures and a 'rider' that can reach six pages of instructions to be done.

“In true American fashion, [the list] has everything you can imagine and makes sense. The cake cannot have nuts, it cannot have bananas, it cannot have any condiment that people who get it on their face could be allergic to”, observed Tiago Castelo Branco.

On the other hand, the organization cannot simply go to a pastry shop to order any cake, but by delivering the 'cake rider' to a pastry chef, the latter will simply have to follow the recipe required by the DJ to produce it, he noted.

Entering its second decade, this year Somnii takes on the concept “Chapter XI – A new decade of dreams” and will make “a big bet” on a “surprising” line-up of artists, mixed with new trends, without giving more details.

In information released today, Mot considered the DJ, music producer, fashion designer and North American businessman as “one of the most sought-after artists in the world”, holder of a Guinness record as “The Musician Who Traveled the Most in a One Year” and author of hits such as “Pursuit of Happiness” or “Turbulence”, among others.

A recurring visitor to Portuguese stages, Steve Aoki has attended events such as the Monte Verde festival, in the Azores, Queima das Fitas in Porto, several Beach Parties or Sudoeste, in Zambujeira do Mar, where he has appeared on the bill several times.
