Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa is traveling from Lisbon today, on a commercial plane, and should arrive in Montreal at 2:10 pm local time (7:10 pm in mainland Portugal).
At the end of the day, the head of state will have a meeting and dinner with the Portuguese community at a hotel in Montreal, which is the second largest city in Canada, after Toronto.
In Canada, the President of the Republic will be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, João Gomes Cravinho, by the Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities, Paulo Cafôfo, and by deputies from the six parties with the largest parliamentary representation.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa will be in Montreal today and Thursday, and then in Toronto, the country's largest city, and Mississauga, until Sunday.
His meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is scheduled for Friday morning.
From Canada, the President of the Republic will head to the United States of America, to participate in the general debate of the 78th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), in New York, until September 22nd.
