The “Visit Portugal Travel Trade Market Place” event, which takes place from Tuesday to Sunday in a hotel in Albufeira, aims to “facilitate business opportunities and strengthen commercial relationships with specialised agents” from the United States of America (USA) and Canada, says a statement from ATA.
According to the note, the approximately 120 companies from the Algarve and other regions of the country that will be present at the event will have the possibility of meeting directly with North American and Canadian buyers, including tour operators and specialised travel agents.
“This event is a unique opportunity for companies in the region to strengthen commercial relations with these markets and boost the increase in the attraction of North American and Canadian tourists to the Algarve”, says André Gomes, president of Tourism from the Algarve.
According to data provided by Turismo do Algarve, between 2017 and 2023, the US market grew approximately 200% in relation to the Algarve, making it the third destination region in Portugal, with a 10% share of overnight stays.
In the case of the Canadian market, the Algarve is the second most sought-after destination in Portugal, with a share of around 25%.
