According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the German economy will shrink by 0.5 percent this year.

If these figures pan out Germany would be the only G7 country whose gross domestic product (GDP) is heading in a negative direction. However according to Zeit online in 2024, the German economy is expected to grow again - by 0.9 percent.
