Banco de Portugal (BdP) data reveals that, until September, foreign investors were more active than ever in the country. This is because foreign direct investment in real estate reached a record value in the summer of 2023, totalling 30,447 million euros, 14% more compared to the same period last year.
According to a report by idealista, since the beginning of 2008, foreign direct investment in the Portuguese real estate market has grown continuously. During the third quarter of 2023, it added one more record: 30,447 million euros were accounted for coming from abroad directly into Portuguese real estate.
Data also shows that the value of transfers from international investors to the real estate sector was 1,137 million euros between July and September, also the highest value ever. The previous maximum was recorded in the second quarter of 2022, being 1,047 million euros.
