Longer standing Members will remember that Sr Mota has produced many musical events in the Algarve and two years ago created the Algarve Symphony Orchestra to promote young musicians from the Algarve and across Portugal and now wants to expand that to choristers.
Sr Mota believes that "I can teach music for free to everyone, so that within one month everybody can read music regardless of their experience. We can practice and get to know each other and have some fun and then we can make concerts in one year's time."
Ideally, in order to make a good sound and to make it comfortable for all to sing, Sr Mota needs around 65 voices. Sopranos, altos, tenors and basses. As he says, "It must be with the perspective of people that like classic music and then we have joy in singing. It can serve as a social meeting for people as well. There are no strings attached, just positive thinking and fun!"
Since September the choir is rehearsing every Wednesday evening and is still open for new members! The first concert is planned for the beginning of 2024 with repertoire that includes Vivaldi’s Gloria, Handel’s Hallelujah and more.
There is a small monthly contribution fee to cover the costs of 15 euros, which will reduce when there are more numbers.
