A source from the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) detailed that the most significant occurrences refer to flooding, falling trees and cleaning of roads, due to heavy rainfall.

Operations officer José Costa also said that a new assessment will be made in the middle of the afternoon, taking into account that the weather worsened after 12:00.

231 operatives were involved in the operations, assisted by 81 land assets.

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) today raised the warning to orange in the districts of Lisbon, Setúbal and Santarém due to the forecast of periods of rain, sometimes strong and persistent.

The warnings have been in force since 1:28 pm, remaining until 3:00 pm in the districts of Lisbon and Santarém and until 6:00 pm in Setúbal.

There are currently five districts under yellow warning: Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Évora and Faro, all due to the forecast of rain, sometimes heavy and persistent, until 00:00 on Friday.

On Wednesday, Civil Protection warned of the possibility of flooding, landslides and slippery floors due to forecasts of rain, wind and snowfall in the highest points of Serra da Estrela.
