In global terms, the Bankinter group, which operates in Spain, Portugal and Ireland, had pre-tax profits of 1.36 billion euros in 2024, 10.7% more than in 2023, the bank highlighted in a statement.
In Portugal, where it has been since 2016, the result before paying taxes was 195 million euros, 18% more than in 2023.
The bank ended 2024 in Portugal with a total loan portfolio of 10 billion euros, 8% more than at the end of 2023, and with customer resources with "a similar value", which translates into a growth of 14 %.
Bankinter's main market is Spain, but the bank highlights that revenues from other countries "are increasingly taking on greater prominence" in the group and those generated by Bankinter Portugal and Bankinter Ireland already represent 15% of the total.
Total customer resources increased by 13.1% last year and the Bankinter group's total assets at the end of 2024 amounted to 121,972 million euros, 7.9% more than a year earlier.
Return on equity (ROE) reached 17.9% at the end of 2024 (it was 17.1% in the previous year).
In the statement released today, and in light of these 2024 results, the Bankinter group highlights that it "was able to successfully combine the negative evolution of interest rates recorded throughout the year with growth in business volumes, both in the credit portfolio and in resources".
