The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita, expressed in Purchasing Power Parities, was 78.7% of the European Union average in 2022, 3.4 percentage points higher than in 2021.
"In 2022, Portugal's Gross Domestic Product per capita, expressed in Purchasing Power Parities (PPP), stood at 78.7% of the European Union average, a value 3.4 percentage points (p.p.) higher than registered in 2021 (75.3%)", according to INE.
Individual Consumption Expenditure per capita, which is a more appropriate indicator to reflect the well-being of families, stood at 87.0% of the European Union average, 2.6 p.p. higher than that observed in the previous year (84.4%), occupying the 12th position in the Eurozone and 15th in the European Union, having improved 2 and 3 positions, respectively, compared to the previous year.
