The note released by the regional Secretariat for Tourism and Culture states that these connections will be made by an Airbus A320, with a capacity for 180 passengers, from the Scandinavian company SAS.

The Regional Government states that 17 frequencies are scheduled until April 13, 2024.

The island of Porto Santo, which has a resident population of around 5,000 people, “has seen the presence of Nordic tourists reinforced, joining the Danes who have already been demanding the ‘Golden Island’ since 2016”.

This operation is supported by the Madeira Promotion Association and is promoted by the Vila Baleira Group, also having as partners, among others, the Porto Santo Development Society (Porto Santo Golfe).

The president of the Madeira Promotion Association and regional secretary of Tourism and Culture, cited in the statement, consider that “Norwegian connections are a very significant contribution of yet another market for Porto Santo, especially as they happen in a period of lower demand, blurring the effects of seasonality”.
