The price of houses for rent in Portugal rose 20.4% in 2023, according to data released by idealista.

According to a statement, renting a house had a cost of 15.5 euros per square meter (euros/m2) at the end of December this year, taking into account the median value.

In relation to the monthly variation, the increase was 0.8% and the quarterly increase was 0.9%.

The rental price in December rose in all district capitals analysed, with Coimbra (31.8%) topping the list.

This was followed by Funchal (28%), Faro (23.3%), Setúbal (19.9%), Leiria (19%), Braga (17.7%), Lisbon (17.4%), Porto (14.4%), Évora (13.2%), Santarém (8.8%) and Aveiro (5.7%).
