After the success achieved in 2022 and 2023, the “Race Nature Albufeira” will be returning for another sporting event, organised by the municipality, which promises to bring together hundreds of athletes, including cyclists, cyclo-sportsmen and federated or non-federated cycle tourists, from both genders, cycling through the most emblematic places in the urban area of the city, roads, rural paths and trails with beautiful landscapes in the interior of the municipality over three days.

According to Albufeira City Council, in 2022 the event featured 350 athletes, a number that in 2023 rose to more than 600 national and international athletes. In this 3rd edition, the race has 700 registered athletes, reaching a new participation record.

The president of the Albufeira municipality, mentioned in the same note, the importance for the municipality to host events of this nature, in addition to the sporting aspect, it contributes to boosting the local economy. José Carlos Rolo highlighted “that the seven hundred athletes will be accompanied by family and friends, who will stay in our hotels, eat at our local restaurants and shop at our local businesses, which contributes to the dynamism of the municipality’s economy. They will also get the chance to know the most emblematic landscapes in the region”.

Vice-president of the Chamber, Cristiano Cabrito, shared “Albufeira has all the conditions for holding outdoor and indoor sporting events, considering Sports Tourism an important slot in the market, essential for the diversification and dynamism of the local economy throughout the year. Furthermore, our sports equipment is prepared for hosting any major national and international events, guaranteeing that by 2026, we will be the European Capital of Sports”.
