Nuno Borges was eliminated, in the early hours of this Monday, by Daniil Medvedev at the Australian Open, knocking him out of the competition after having made history in Portuguese tennis.

Borges fought back, but ended up defeated by 6-3, 7-6(4), 5-7 and 6-1 in a match with the Russian tennis player which lasted more than three hours.


Medvedev will now face the Polish player Hubert Hurkacz, who occupies ninth place in the ATP rankings, in the quarter-finals of the tournament taking place in Australia.
