In this year's edition, which marks the 15th anniversary of the blog's awards with the same name, the restaurant led by António Galapito took the top spot, after coming second in 2020 and 2021.
“Ocean” (two Michelin stars), by Austrian Hans Neuner, ranked first last year, has now dropped one position in the table, which includes, as a new entry, the restaurant “Cozinha das Flores” (Porto), by Nuno Mendes, in ninth place, which received the Sogrape New Restaurant of the Year Special Award.
João Rodrigues (“Canalha”, Lisbon, and itinerant project Residência) once again topped the list of favourite chefs – a position he held for six consecutive years when he headed “Feitoria” (Lisbon, one Michelin star).
João Rodrigues' new restaurant, opened last year in the capital, won the Special Queijo São Jorge DOP Mesa Diária 2023 Award, which rewards the best affordable restaurant.
Second on the list of chefs was Vasco Coelho dos Santos (“Euskalduna”, Porto, one Michelin star), who came first last year.
In the list of restaurants, another new addition is “Vista” (Portimão, one Michelin star), by chef João Oliveira, which rose 12 positions to eighth place, winning the Special Estrella Damm Highlight of the Year Award.
This was the largest edition ever of the Mesa Marcada awards, with 280 voters, an unprecedented number, including chefs and other professionals linked to the restaurant and hospitality industry, as well as journalists and other communicators in the area, critics, bloggers and gastronomes.
The ceremony, which took place early this evening at the Estoril Congress Center, was also the most attended ever, with around 450 guests.
