Jenny Clarke, APAA’s President, found the terrified feline, a couple of days after the owner had been taken ill. “João, ARA’s General Manager, will take him in. Hopefully they’ll find a suitable home for Maurice." An older cat needing a forever home. Much loved by his owner Ann, a charity worker at the Silves shop, who after her short illness, sadly passed away in hospital.

‘Lady’ or ‘Jess’ as she is now known at Pet Park. Probably about six. Was abandoned in Silves, taken to the Vet and SNiP’d. Donations for her care were made directly by the Silves APAA charity shop. Our cute canine furry friend is very good tempered. Gary is sure she should find a good forever home. “Too many animals are abandoned. Most find a good new home sooner than later. A visit to come and see her is well worth while!”

Coincidentally, homes for great items are also needed. Funds raised by APAA, through ‘Pop-Ups’ and Car Boot Sales now happening. ‘Pop-Up’ at Almadena Hall (Nr Luz) Saturday 10th February 10am-3pm. Excellent quality goods on sale. ‘Jolly’ Bar, Nr Alvor Campsite. Friday 16th February 11am-2pm. Everything and more! Together with Fiona’s Fi-line clothing collection, jewellery and make up and Gill Goode’s beautiful artwork. The Ferragudo Car Boot Sale, every second Sunday of the month 8am-12noon. Make a note! 11 February following 10th March and so on. ‘Convento’bio’ at Lagoa, stalls will be set up end of March, for Easter specials. ‘O Tasco’ will be helping out again with a ‘Pop-Up’ Shop soon.

“We are also looking for new ‘Pop-Up’ sites, venues, good parking and refreshments and or meals, a friendly bar or restaurant.” Jenny is very enthusiastic. “This year, we want to break all boundaries.” Jane Flanagan at the Holiday Inn, gave us the nod. “Another load of hotel items to be re-homed. Having closed down completely for remodelling.“ APAA and ARA had first shout for their Mini-drink bars, hospitality trays with coffee and tea making equipment. Duvets, rugs. “Our APAA Shops in Alvor and Silves will be well kitted out!” Money raised from sales are for creating Cat Colonies, SNiP, (Spaying & Neutering Programme) and abandoned animals. APAA’s motto ‘Here to Help’ is a meaningful one. Helping other charities in need, to help control increasing feral feline populations and abandoned dogs.
