According to notícias ao minute, in a statement, the PSP explained the restrictions, also adding several suggestions for circulating in that location over the weekend.

"The PSP Lisbon Metropolitan Command, through the Cascais Police Division, informs that resulting from the sporting event 'Cascais Half Marathon', on the 3rd and 4th of February, the following traffic restrictions will occur":

February 3

3:00 pm to 6:00 pm - Traffic restriction on Passeio D. Luís/Avenida D. Carlos I (Cascais Bay);

February 4th

6:30 am to 1:30 pm - Traffic restrictions on Passeio D. Luís/Avenida D. Carlos I (Cascais Bay);

8:30 am to 12:00 pm - Traffic closure on Avenida da República/Estrada do Guincho (EN 247);

8:30 am to 10:30 am – Traffic restrictions on Avenida Infante D. Henrique

"Traffic will reopen after the athletes pass", reads the statement.

The PSP also revealed that "between 00:00 on February 2nd and 2:00 pm on February 4th, Cascais Bay and the Marina will be restricted", and "in all the aforementioned roads and surrounding areas, alternatives will be taken into account for resident exit/access".

PSP leaves appeal to citizens

In the same statement, the PSP also leaves several suggestions to citizens, namely that they "avoid circulation in their surroundings, so as not to get stuck in traffic that the restrictions on their circulation will cause", and that they "strictly follow the instructions of the police placed along the route of the event, facilitating police action and not compromising your safety, that of other citizens and the sporting event".

"Watch the race in the indicated locations, away from the roadside and without interfering with the circulation of the participants" and "do not cross or circulate by any means in the streets where athletes pass", recommends the PSP, in addition to stating that circulation on the roads indicated is "strictly prohibited, regardless of the reason (even logistical operations such as supplying establishments, delivering orders, etc.)".

Concluding the statement, the PSP says that citizens should avoid "moving to places restricted to pedestrian circulation to avoid gatherings, such as the starting and finishing points".

"It is suggested that citizens who will participate in the event or who wish to travel to any of the locations affected by the Cascais Half Marathon 2024 event, and who are considering doing so by their own means, favour the use of public transport, with a special focus on CP – Comboios de Portugal", states the PSP, informing that "there will be police officers carrying out the necessary traffic restrictions and diversions, who will be able to inform citizens of the best alternatives at all times".
