The municipality of the district in Viana do Castelo announced the tender will be open until March 11, until 4.30pm, and proposals must comply with the conditions of the program, available on the municipality’s official website.

In 2023, Orbitur, the company that has operated the campsite for the last 60 years, began a pre-contractual litigation process with the Tribunal Administrativo e Fiscal (TAF) do Porto against the Chamber of Viano do Castelo, as it had unanimously revoked a public tender, concluded in August 2022, for the concession of the space.

The case continues to await the court’s decision.

In accordance with the president of the chamber, Luís Nobre, legal action does not prevent the opening of a new public tender, which occurred on February 8.

The procedure covers “restaurant, self-service, bar, supermarket, and other facilities that may be created within the campsite”.

The concession “will be made for a period of 10 years, counting from the date of the signing of the contract, with the possibility of extension for periods of one year, up to a maximum of 10 years”.

All proposals admitted to the competition must include a note justifying the project to be developed in the space, also indicating the equipment and furniture, budget estimate, execution program and value of concession, which must be over €3,500 per month.

The proposals will open at 10am on the first working day after the end of the deadline set by the chamber.

The competition process is available in the municipality’s contracts and concessions section, interested parties can visit the space up to a day before the date designated for the public event.

The operation of Viana Camping must begin within one year of signing the operating concession contract.
