Portugal has the second highest number of foreign-born citizens who are proficient in the host country’s language in Europe.

According to data from Eurostat and shared by land_geist, 90.4% of foreign-born residents speak Portuguese, with only Croatia having a higher number at 97.7%.
The countries with the lowest numbers are Malta (15.2%), Estonia (17.6%) and Latvia (31.6%).

This is SO not the true picture. If you remove Brazillians from the figures, then Portugal would be nearer the bottom of the table.

Portuguese is the world's 5th most spoken language, and is spoken around the world. So it would be wise to learn and speak Portuguese
