This "priority" of the new Government had already been contested, with Socialist Party deputy, Isabel Moreira, admitting that she was not "surprised" by Luís Montenegro giving "a spoonful of joy to Chega".

However, it is online and on social media that the harshest commentary has been demonstrated with the new memes and posts popping up across the platforms.

The logo being used by the new government is not a new one but is instead a return to the previous logo and features "the armillary sphere, with the shield, corners, and castles in which the Portuguese people see themselves". The previous logo was brought back on Tuesday, shortly after the new executive took office, and already features on the Government's website and in emails sent by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

On December 2 last year, Luís Montenegro had committed himself, if he were Prime Minister, to stop using the new institutional symbol of the Costa Government - which generated controversy for having simplified the image, removing the armillary sphere, the corners, and the castles.
