According to data released by HousingAnywhere, for the first three months of the year: "The Portuguese capital stands out when it comes to apartments. With an absolute value of €1,700, it is the ninth most expensive city in Europe to rent this type of property, with a quarterly increase of 1.5%.
“Still, this value represents a decrease of -21.1% compared to the same period last year. Lisbon also saw a drop in the value of rooms (€500), of -12.3% quarterly and -2.9% annually. In studios, the trend is similar: at a quarterly level the value remained unchanged (€1,050) and compared to the same period last year the variation is -4.5%", according to a statement reported by Notícias ao Minute.
In Porto, "all types of properties saw increases in rent prices, with the sole exception of studios".
"Renting an apartment in Porto can cost around €1,250, resulting in an increase of 4.2% compared to the last quarter and the same period last year. Rooms remain the same as in the last quarter, €450, plus 7.8% more than a year ago. Finally, studios registered an almost imperceptible increase, of 0.1%, compared to the last quarter of 2023. The annual variation was also an insignificant value, with a decrease of -1.1%, which now represents an absolute value of €890 for this type of property".
