At the start of the preparatory debate for the Special European Council, which will take place on the 17th and 18th of April, and which will be the first in which he participates as Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro had at his side the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Pedro Duarte, and the Secretary of State for European Affairs, Inês Domingos.
“In this first preparatory debate for the European Council of the current legislature, I begin by stating that the Government will continue Portugal's firm commitment to the values of the European Union and to strengthening the European project because this is the best way to safeguard the national interest and the well-being of the Portuguese”, stated Montenegro.
The Prime Minister also promised the Government's commitment to a “very intense campaign to raise awareness among the Portuguese about participating in the European elections”, which will take place in Portugal on June 9th.
