The initiative will take place in the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium of Câmara de Lagoa and will feature the participation of the Commander of the Port of Portimão Eduardo Luís Pousadas Godinho, with whom the sector will be able to address and clarify the new rules defined in the notice.
In a note, Turismo do Algarve reinforces that “the main objective of this notice is to ensure that navigation, especially in the vicinity and access to the Benagil Caves, is carried out in safe conditions, protecting visitors, maritime-tourist operators, general navigation in the area and the environment”.
The session is open to maritime tourism companies registered in the National Register of Tourist Entertainment Agents (RNAAT), upon prior registration.
The joint notice that will promulgate navigation rules for the Benagil Caves area has been developed, since May 8, by the Port Authority of Portimão, the Municipality of Lagoa, the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA), and the Institute for Nature and Forest Conservation (ICNF).
In a note sent to newsrooms, the National Maritime Authority reinforces that the project, developed in accordance with the recommendations of the “Benagil Caves Working Group”, “aims to establish management measures considered a priority, to be applied in the year 2024 in an area between Vale do Lapa beach and Albandeira beach, in order to ensure that navigation is carried out more safely, safeguarding visitors to the Benagil Caves, maritime-tourist operators, navigation in general in that area and also the environment".
The document is available for public consultation until June 10th, to collect opinions and contributions, subject to subsequent evaluation and consideration, as well as making adjustments, as necessary.
