In addition to Praça do Comércio, Largo do Romal and Largo do Poço will also host the Book Fair, spaces that, between the days of the event, are renamed Praça das Famílias (with a children's programme) and Praça da Arte e da Criação (focusing on “artistic thinking”), respectively, due to the activities they receive.

There are also parallel places that host activities, such as Parque Manuel Braga or, within the scope of the “Rota de Contos nas Tabernas”, establishments such as Izakaya ONI and Dona Lúcia.

Another novelty are the two programmatic spaces located in Praça do Comércio, namely the Luís de Camões Auditorium (which will be located in the center of the Square) and the Liberdade Stage (replacing the tent that was previously located in front of the Church of Santiago, this stage ends before from the stairs of the Church, allowing visitors to sit there to watch the presentations).

The programme includes “a series of names associated with art, books and words”, from literature to music, such as Mário Cláudio, Lídia Jorge, Tom Farias, as well as Sam The Kid, Manuel Cruz, Valter Lobo, Capicua, among others.

“We were aware that, in order to grow, there needed to be robustness from a programming point of view and strong concepts, so that we could, eventually, in the future, make 'Baixinha' a kind of small literary village in the middle of the city ”, stated Rafael Nascimento.

Associação Cultural Apura, one of the municipality's partners in this event, was responsible for mediating and programming the stage at "Praça da Arte e da Criação” (Largo do Poço), which is “a showcase of the work developed” by various cultural agents from the city throughout the year, such as Escola da Noite, Cena Lusófona, Teatrão, Blue House and Marionet, among others, Maria Cunha, from the association, explained.

“In relation to Associação Cultural Apura’s programming, we are mainly interested in valuing emerging projects and promoting projects that combine the literary dimension with other aspects”, added Maria Cunha.

Included in the dates that the Fair marks are the 250th anniversary of the University of Coimbra Press (UC), which was “the oldest publisher in the country operating in the facilities where it was initially located”, explained the press director of the UC, Carlota Simões, at today's conference.

According to the president of Coimbra City Council, José Manuel Silva, the municipality invested 200 thousand euros in this year's Fair, 70 thousand euros more than in 2023.

“We tripled the spaces [at the Fair], which naturally implies more investment, but also allows us to receive more stands and develop more cultural activities”, highlighted José Manuel Silva.
