In a statement, Carris states that the implementation of this solution in the service with a SIBS product, reaffirms the commitment of the two entities "to innovation and sustainability, aligning with the objective of making Lisbon a smarter and more environmentally friendly city".

From today, Carris passengers can use the MB Way QR Code directly to purchase and validate the onboard fare more quickly, without the need for cash or paper tickets.

To use the service, Carris passengers simply need to read the MB Way QR Code on the validators with their smartphone, in a completely digital payment process.

"The implementation of onboard fare payment via MB Way QR Code, directly to our validators, allows us to offer a more agile service, eliminating the need for physical tickets and improving our customers' travel experience. This new functionality will facilitate the daily lives of thousands of passengers, promoting better, more practical, and sustainable mobility in our city", says Pedro de Brito Bogas, president of the Board of Directors of Carris, cited in the note.

For her part, Madalena Cascais Tomé, CEO of the SIBS Group, also mentioned in the statement, explains that the organisation is committed "to providing payment solutions that make people's daily lives simpler, more practical, and efficient".

Carris is a collective public road passenger transport company in the city of Lisbon.
