According to a statement, the operation was carried out on Saturday by the Coastal and Border Control Unit (UCCF), with the GNR military detecting the vessel, which tried to escape, which was then stopped with the help of the Spanish Guardia Civil at the off Cabo de Gata (southwest of Almeria).

There were 17 people on the vessel, with a facilitator being detained, while the remaining 16 migrants (all men) were taken to the port of Almeria.

The coastal patrol boat Bojador was integrated by the GNR in the “Indalo 2024” operation, which takes place between June 12th and August 7th, under the auspices of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX), within the scope of operational coordination in the external borders of the European Union.
