According to a note from the Chamber of Aveiro, over the 17 days, more than 50 thousand visitors passed through the fair, with Espaço Autores receiving more than five thousand people to attend the various sessions with prominent authors such as Joana Marques, Ricardo Araújo Pereira, Martim Sousa Tavares or Miguel Esteves Cardoso.
The event took place this year in Praça do Rossio, which underwent renovation works, which allowed the reorganisation of exhibitors in order to have a greater variety and number of participants, going from 29 to 50 exhibitors, compared to 2023.
Quoted in the same note, the Mayor of Aveiro, Ribau Esteves, says that it was “a winning bet”, justifying that “the new Rossio is a fantastic space and that greatly enhances” the events.
In the year of the Portuguese Capital of Culture, the municipality says that the investment in the Aveiro Book Fair resulted in an increase in sales of around 70% compared to the previous year and a “strong support” from the local population and visitors to the city.
The event's program extended to Espaço Autores, located in the old Mercado do Peixe, one of the meeting points for locals and tourists, where sessions with several national and international authors took place.
