The initiative, promoted by the city council, in partnership with Ronca - Cineclube de Elvas, will cover all rural parishes in that municipality until August 10th, always with shows scheduled from 9:30 pm.
Speaking to Lusa agency, Luís Graça, from the direction of Ronca - Cineclube de Elvas, explained that the initiative includes a show with “iconic scenes” from some classic films of Portuguese cinema, through a “theatrical concert lasting around 30 minutes”.
After this show, entitled “The Song of Lisbon – from Theater to Cinema”, there is a screening of the film “The Song of Lisbon”, which premiered in 1933 and gave its name to the event in Elvas.
“It was the first film entirely in Portuguese, made in Portugal”, he highlighted.
After a previous edition of the event more focused on the city of Elvas, Ronca - Cineclube de Elvas proposed this decentralized initiative to the municipal executive through rural parishes.
“Our objective is to decentralize the culture that passes through large cities, cultural democratization and defend these values”, said Luís Graça.
According to its synopsis, the film “A Canção de Lisboa”, directed by José Cottinelli Telmo, follows the bohemian life of Vasco Leitão, a young medical student in Lisbon, who lives off the allowance of his Trás-os-Montes aunts.
