In a publication on its official page, the National Maritime Authority states that the water quality analysis, carried out by the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA), revealed: "microbiological values ​​above reference parameters, making the water unsuitable for bathing".

After being informed by APA that going to bathe is temporarily discouraged on that beach, the captain of Porto do Douro gave instructions to place notices at the beach access points.
