At a press conference in Lisbon, the bank's CEO, Pedro Castro e Almeida, said that "These are very positive results and the result of everyone's work".
"Santander continues to be a very profitable bank, it continues to grow quarter after quarter in Portugal and has earned this right to grow and grow organically, so we are not going to stop here", he added.
Operating income amounted to 854.8 million euros, an increase of 48.7% compared to the same period last year, while the net impairment of financial assets at amortized cost amounted to -4.4 million euros, compared to -35 million recorded in the first half of 2023.
Santander Totta is owned by the Spanish group Santander, which last week reported a profit of 6,059 million euros in the first half of this year, 16% more than in the same period of 2023.
