This year's edition of 'La Vuelta' will have three stages in Portugal, starting on Saturday with a 12-kilometre time trial, starting at the Jerónimos Monastery (Lisbon) and finishing at Praia da Torre (Oeiras), and continuing on Sunday between Cascais and Ourém, and on Monday from Lousã to Castelo Branco.

Due to the Spanish event and the Pedala Portugal Bike Tour Lisbon/Oeiras 2024, the Lisbon local authority has announced several traffic restrictions in the capital, including the suspension of traffic between Wednesday and Saturday in Praça do Império, Avenida da Índia and Avenida de Brasília and adjacent areas.

The traffic restrictions include Avenida de Brasília (Algés-Lisbon direction), from 8:00 am on Monday to 00:00 am on Sunday, with the right lane restricted for tourist buses to stop between Padrão dos Descobrimentos and Estação Fluvial de Belém, and Torre de Belém, from 8:00 am on Wednesday to 9:00 pm on Thursday, with severe restrictions on the central road, parallel to the Vela Latina restaurant.

In Praça do Império, from 8:00 am on Thursday to midnight on Sunday, traffic will be restricted between Rua D. Lourenço de Almeida and Largo dos Jerónimos, with traffic now moving along Rua Bartolomeu Dias, Av. do Restelo and Rua dos Jerónimos.

Access to traffic will be closed on several roads leading to Av. da Índia, namely Rua Damião de Góis, Travessa do Forte da Areia, Av. de Brasília (via the Pedrouços Viaduct), Av. da Torre de Belém (with a traffic corridor to allow access to Rua Fernão Mendes Pinto), Rua Lagoa Henriques, the Belém Cultural Centre car park (access via Rua Bartolomeu Dias), the Museu dos Coches car park (access via Av. da Índia) and Rua Mécia Mouzinho de Albuquerque.

Traffic will be closed on the side street of Vela Latina, from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Thursday, on the section between Rua Mécia Mouzinho Albuquerque and Av. Torre de Belém from Av. da Índia, from 7:00 pm on Friday to midnight on Sunday, on Av. da Índia, from 4:00 pm on Friday to midnight on Sunday, between Avenida da Torre de Belém and Alcântara and from Avenida da Torre de Belém to Praça Dom Manuel I (Algés), and on Rua dos Jerónimos, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday.

Public transport will also be restricted from 8:00 am on Thursday to 11:00 pm on Saturday, and the operation of the Carris fleet is expected to be significantly affected, with diversions to Rua Bartolomeu Dias, Av. do Restelo and Rua dos Jerónimos, as traffic in Praça do Império is closed, preventing trams from passing through during this period.

In a statement, the Oeiras City Council revealed that for the purpose of holding several events related to 'La Vuelta', car parks and parking areas will be closed at Torre, next to the restaurant 'A Carruagem' and Feitoria do Colégio Militar, from 10:00 pm on Thursday to 1:00 am on Sunday, and in front of Forte de São Julião da Barra and Praia da Torre, from 6:00 am on Friday to 1:00 am on Sunday.

Avenida Marginal will be partially closed, in both directions, between Rotunda de Carcavelos and Alto da Barra/Exída Inatel Oeiras, from 8:00 am on Friday to 1:00 am on Sunday, with access and circulation restricted to Marina de Oeiras, subject to accreditation and management by Oeiras Viva (dealers, vessels, suppliers), and Alameda do Alto da Barra will be closed from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm on Saturday, with circulation restricted to residents.

In addition to the presentation of the teams and cyclists of 'La Vuelta' in the Jardim da Torre de Belém (15 August, 5pm), the 'La Vuelta' Juvenil will also take place on Saturday, between 9:30am and 10:30am, a race co-organised with the Portuguese Cycling Federation, aimed at the youth category (young people aged between 12 and 16), from Avenida da Índia to Alcântara.

The Pedala Portugal Bike Tour, between Praça do Império and Praia da Torre, will take place on Saturday, from 10am to 1pm, before the starting gun of the Lisbon-Oeiras time trial of 'La Vuelta', at 3:30pm, from Praça do Império to Torre.

In Cascais, according to the City Council, traffic closures will occur between 10pm on Saturday and 4pm on Sunday, with Cascais Bay, Avenida D. Carlos I and Avenida da República being closed.

The Marechal Carmona car park will also be closed during the same period, while the Carcavelos car park will close from midnight to 8pm on Saturday.
