According to a statement from the Lisbon Metropolitan Command (Cometlis) of the Public Security Police, through the Traffic Division, due to the 33rd Lisbon Half Marathon, several “traffic restrictions” will take place on Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday, on the occasion of the “7 K” race, between the National Stadium (Jamor) and Lisbon, scheduled to start at 09:30, the Avenida Marginal, Avenida da India and Praça do Império will be closed, between 09:00 and at 12:00.
The “Family Walk”, covering a length of four kilometres, which will start at 11:00, will take you to Avenida Brasília, the Electricity Museum area (from Brigada Fiscal, in the Docks, to Vela Latina), between the 11:15 and 12:15.
The “New Generation” race, over 1.5 kilometers for the youngest, is scheduled to start at 4:00 pm, leading to the “isolation of Avenida da India, with departure and arrival at Largo - Praça do Império street, between 2:45 pm and 16:00”, is mentioned in the note.
Also according to the PSP, at 11pm on Saturday, Avenida da India, between the Pedrouços viaduct and the metallic Alcântara viaduct, will be closed until 5pm on Sunday.
Cometlis also states that, on Sunday, the athletes' concentration and departure area will be closed on Avenida Marginal, between Cruz Quebrada and Algés, in both directions from 07:00, with the closure of Avenida Marginal - Algés, between Cruz Quebrada and Algés (07:00), and from CRIL, access to Marginal (08:00).
The closure of the 25 de Abril Bridge in both directions from 08:50 will include the closure of the A5 Motorway, at the connection to the bridge, on Main Itinerary (IP) 7 (North/South Axis), towards the bridge, closure at the last exit to Monsanto , on Av. de Ceuta, access to the bridge, and Viaduto Duarte Pacheco, access to the bridge.
Thus, indicates the PSP, traffic coming from Monsanto and Avenida Calouste Gulbenkian will be diverted onto Avenida de Ceuta, and onto Avenida Calouste Gulbenkian or towards Eixo Norte-Sul, in the direction of the 2nd Circular – except residents of Quinta da Cabrinha, and from the A5, towards Lisbon, to Monsanto or Praça de Espanha (run by GNR).
“Traffic traveling on the IP7 (North-South Axis), heading south, will see its continuity interrupted towards the bridge, at the last exit for Monsanto and A5, with Monsanto, A5, Sete Rios and Praça de Espanha as an alternative”, the note reads.
Traffic coming from Amoreiras will be prevented from entering the access to the bridge, heading towards the A5 or Praça de Espanha.
Cometlis advises that, “for connections to the other bank (in both directions), from 08:50 onwards, the Vasco da Gama Bridge must be used without fail”, between Sacavém and Alcochete, and that “these restrictions and cuts should end around 2:00 pm, except on Avenida da India (at 5:00 pm)”.
Also in a statement, Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) informed that, due to the 33rd Lisbon Half Marathon, “the 25 de Abril Bridge will be closed to traffic from 8:50 am, with its reopening expected at 1 pm :00” on Sunday.
IP also suggests the Vasco da Gama Bridge as an alternative way to cross the Tagus River in the Lisbon region, highlighting that the train service on the 25 de Abril bridge "will not be interrupted during the sporting event”.
The popular Lisbon Half Marathon and mini marathon will start at 10:05 from Ponte 25 de Abril, in Almada, with the finish line installed next to the Jerónimos Monastery, in Lisbon.
Very detailed article, excellent work. As the half marathon occurs every year on different dates, a suggestion would be to include the dates of the closures and the year also. The reader would then be assured that it is not an old article.
