The total number of passengers, adds the Port of Lisbon, represents a 6% increase compared to the same month last year when the Portuguese capital's port infrastructure had received 54,992 passengers.

“The main driver of this record was the impressive 35% growth in cruise passengers in transit, equivalent to an increase from 39,245 to 52,797 tourists in this category, between 2023 and 2024”, highlights the Port of Lisbon.

In July, the Port of Lisbon also recorded a total of twenty cruise ship stopovers, an increase of 5% compared to the 19 made in the same month the previous year, which, according to the Port of Lisbon, shows “the confidence of cruise lines in Lisbon’s capacity to receive larger ships, as demonstrated by the 15 stopovers made by ships with a capacity of over two thousand passengers”.

“This record demonstrates not only the growing attractiveness of the city of Lisbon as a cruise destination but also our commitment to continue investing in improving the port infrastructure and services of the Port of Lisbon, promoting sustainable and quality tourism”, said Carlos Correia, Chairman of the Board of the Port of Lisbon (APL).
