According to the IPMA, there is an orange warning (the second most serious on a scale of three) for this Saturday in the districts of Portalegre, Évora and Beja, with the forecast of “persistent very high maximum temperatures”.
Another seven districts are currently under a yellow warning, the least serious - Vila Real, Bragança, Viseu, Guarda, Castelo Branco, Setúbal and Faro -, due to the “persistence of high maximum temperatures”, indicated the institute responsible for the national meteorological service.
Much of the northern and central interior of the country remains at maximum risk of fire today, as do the Algarve municipalities of Monchique, Silves, Loulé, São Brás de Alportel and Tavira, according to the IPMA.
For Sunday, nine of the 18 districts of mainland Portugal are under a yellow warning: Vila Real, Bragança, Guarda, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Setúbal, Évora, Beja and Faro.
On Monday, seven districts will see the yellow warning extended, namely Bragança, Guarda, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Évora, Beja and Faro.
In the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the north coast, the mountainous regions and the south coast are today under an orange warning, a situation that will last until Monday, with the exception of the north coast, which will be under a yellow warning from Sunday night until Monday, while Porto Santo is under a yellow warning between this Saturday and Monday.
In the Azores, the heat has led to a yellow warning between today and Sunday for the Western, Central and Eastern groups of the archipelago.
