Under the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) banner, the latest development from Mercan Properties Group represents an investment of 16.8 million euros and will generate 31 more jobs, in addition to the approximately one hundred created during the construction period.

This new 4-star hotel in Alentejo, with a gross construction area of 7,125 m², is the result of an urban rehabilitation project that preserved the original façade of the existing building, in keeping with the characteristic layout of Beja, including a work by the acclaimed artist Vhils, which will pay homage to the Alentejo region.

Located close to historical monuments from the former Pax Julia, such as the Castle and the Cathedral of Beja, the Holiday Inn Beja was designed to accommodate a variety of travellers, with 95 rooms spread over four floors and a car park with 163 spaces.

“We have been very well received in the Alentejo, so we are very excited about the opening of the Holiday Inn Beja. The investment of almost 17 million euros that we have made in Beja shows our desire to continue investing in Portugal, diversifying the Mercan Properties Group’s offering in the country and providing unique experiences to our guests”, said Jordi Vilanova, President of the Mercan Properties Group in Portugal.

The new Mercan Properties Group development in the Alentejo joins the portfolio of investments in the inland region of the country, which includes the Hilton Garden Inn Évora, already in operation, and the Holiday Inn Express Évora, which is due to open in the second half of September.
