The festival, dedicated to rockabilly music and the aesthetics of the 1950s, will feature several concerts, DJ sets, an exhibition of classic cars and a market for period items, announced Boppin’ Coimbra, the cultural association that promotes the event.
The organisation emphasises that this year’s edition represents “a bold commitment”, with a musical line-up featuring “big names from the Portuguese and European rockabilly scene”.
The festival will feature French band Don Cavalli, who returns to Portugal after “a long absence”, Dutch trio Mischief and Spanish band The Honky-Tonk Heels, who are making their debut in Portugal, and Los Vólidos, “old acquaintances in the industry”.
Also taking to the stage at the Oficina Municipal do Teatro are Porto’s The Mean Devils and the Portuguese-French band The Rough Boys.
According to the press release, in addition to the concerts, there will also be guest DJs from the United States, England, Germany, Holland and Portugal, in a programme that runs from 8pm to 4am on Friday and Saturday.
On Saturday, the Oficina Municipal do Teatro park will host a classic car exhibition and a market selling vintage items, and on Sunday, the festival will end with a party at the Pinga Amor bar, starting at 10pm.
As a warm-up for the Action Packed festival, a party will take place on the Basófias boat on 19 September, with music selected by German DJ Marc Valentine, who lives in Coimbra.
The 4th edition of the festival is supported by the Coimbra City Council, in addition to the usual partnership with the company O Teatrão, which manages the Oficina Municipal do Teatro.
Always a brilliant festival, we were there in 2022 and 2023 and had a great time!
