"The Bloc wants to know why the contribution for the last quarter of 2023 to animal protection associations has not yet been paid, what is the expected date for payment to be regularised, and what measures the Regional Government intends to adopt so that no further delays occur", says the party, which sent a request to the executive today.

In a press release, the Block explains that the alert came from SER - Association for Awareness, Sterilization and Animal Rescue, which "is still awaiting payment of the amount for the last quarter of 2023, which has placed it in a situation of critical financial suffocation and which may even lead to the end of its activity."

According to the association, cited by BE, the last quarter of 2022 was paid in March 2023, but the payment for the last quarter of 2023 has not yet been paid and a date has not been indicated.

In the request, the party defends “measures that prevent these associations from having to suspend their activity and even consider closing them”, and points out that “very important work” carried out voluntarily, “in favour of well-being” is at stake, remembering that recently the regional Secretary of Agriculture and Food praised this work.

"It is incomprehensible that the regional secretary recognises the important work of the associations, but, at the same time, does not ensure the timely payment of the support that allows this work to continue being carried out", he lamented.
