Authorities in the Italian capital announced they want to start the scheme at the 18thcentury Trevi Fountain, a famous bucket list destination, as part of ongoing plans to both reduce crowds and promote “sustainable tourism”.

The fountain is one of the most visited attractions in Italy and the world, designed by architect Nicola Salvi, and is frequently packed full of people who struggle to get a glance at the icon.
