What’s not to love?
The Algarveans’ production of Sister Act the Broadway show, based on the hit film starring Whoopi Goldberg, promises to deliver an all-singing, all-dancing, all-fun night out at the theatre.
The plot certainly isn’t highbrow but it sets out to entertain. When aspiring diva Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder by her gangster boyfriend Curtis, she goes into hiding in a convent under the watchful eye of the strict Mother Superior. After failing to blend in, Deloris leads the incompetent choir, teaching them to sound heavenly and generating funds for the church. However, the increasing media attention blows Deloris’ cover and draws Curtis’ attention whereupon he and his gang give chase.
Director Carmen Danen, brings her extensive experience as a musical artist, singer, actress, vocal coach and theatre educator to ensure that this production will wow audiences with high-energy musical numbers and some hilarious moments.
