"Designed by women", Pinker is a service similar to Uber but will only have female drivers and passengers.
Pre-registration to receive all information about this new transport platform is now open.
"Each route is thought of with the details that make a difference, ensuring that you, passenger or driver, feel confident and in good hands", says Pinker, on the official website.
"Whether you are a passenger looking for more safety, or a driver looking for new opportunities, join us in this revolution in exclusively female transport".
How can this even be legal? It excludes men and boys, both as drivers or passengers, so is discriminatory. I doubt if a business could open in Portugal that excludes ethnic minorities or LGBTQ people. It shouldn't be possible to exclude anyone from a business based on their innate personal characteristics.

Services such as this are needed, (more so in other countries) due to the violent nature of many men. Having this service in Portugal will assist women from varies countries to feel safe. Odd isn't it, how many tactics we women use due to the fear of men...rape whistles, mace, car keys between our knuckles, not going out after dark, walking in groups. It's a scary world if you are female.

This so wrong at so many levels but particularly because it's clearly discriminatory against men, half of the population. It shouldn't be available in Portugal.

This must break every sexual discrimination law. I thought this was not possible under EU rules.

It's legal and should exist because of the sense of security it offers. Women should feel safe and protected. Obviously, the vast majority of men are law abiding and are just doing a job, but many malicious males use roles to take advantage of the physically weaker gender.

Good initiative! I would prefer my wife to take a “female” taxi. And instead of giving negative reactions (from man) they should be ashamed that it’s necessary.

It’s exciting to see the launch of a women-only ride service, offering a safer option for women who often face real risks when traveling alone with a male driver. Some men are calling it “discrimination” and questioning its legality, but how long do women have to keep suffering just to feel safe? There have been far too many incidents of violence. Don’t these men have daughters, sisters, wives? If they ever witnessed a woman in danger, would they step up to defend her, or just complain about fairness? Safety should be a right, not a luxury.

Folks happy for their wife/daughter etc - why are you letting them live and move around in such an unsafe city?
