This marks the lowest deforestation rate in 15 years, with the area cleared being the smallest since 2015, indicated by figures from the Project for Monitoring Deforestation in the Legal Amazon by Satellite.
The Brazilian states that showed the best rate of reduction were Rondônia (-62.5 percent), followed by Mato Grosso (-45.1 percent) and Amazonas (-29 percent).
It's because they've taken all the best bits. Only dregs left over.
