The project will adapt the Lisbon Employment Map, an interactive tool from the City Council with job opportunities and training offers, to facilitate the professional integration of immigrants, “promoting a dignified and structured response to the challenge of employability”, said the municipality.

“In addition, partnerships will be established with industry associations specialising in the integration of immigrants and refugees through employability, ensuring that immigrants have access to training tailored to the demands of the Portuguese market,” added CML.

According to the Lisbon City Council, the idea came from the Lisbon Citizens' Council, a civic participation initiative that has been running for almost three years and aims to involve citizens in decision-making about the city.

"Lisbon needs immigration, but it has to be geared towards the job market. We cannot continue with a situation where there is a lack of workers and, at the same time, immigrants without jobs. We are going to make this connection between skills and needs," said the president of CML, Carlos Moedas, cited in the note sent by the city hall.

The Lisbon Jobs Map currently has almost 6,000 job opportunities and close to 2,000 training offers.
