Since the beginning of the pandemic, Portugal has registered 1,875 deaths and 65,021 cases of infection.
The DGS indicates that two deaths have been registered in the Northern region, one in the region of Lisbon and Tagus Valley and another in the region of Algarve.
There are 36,955 contacts under surveillance, 197 more than on Monday.
The total number of new cases registered today is the lowest of the last seven days.
Data also indicate that 478 people with Covid-19 are admitted to hospitals (one more in relation to Monday), of which 59 (less two) are in intensive care units.
In the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, where the highest number of infections is found in the country, 227 new cases have been reported, accounting for 33,297 cases of infection and 706 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
The Northern region now has a further 117 cases, now totalling 23,528, with 859 deaths.
In the Centre region there have been a further 51 cases, with 5,330 infections and 254 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
In Alentejo a further 14 Cases of covid-19 have been registered, totalling 1,175 cases and 22 deaths so far.
The Algarve region has today reported a further 15 cases of infection, totalling 1,259 cases and 19 deaths by Covid-19.
In the autonomous region of the Azores a new case has been registered in the last 24 hours, totalling 240 infections and 15 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
Madeira has not registered any case today, accounting for 192 infections, no deaths to date.
In the last 24 hours 177 patients have recovered, so 44,362 people have already overcome the infection since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal.
The confirmed cases are spread over all age groups, with the highest number of infections recorded between 20 and 59 years old.
In total, the new coronavirus has already affected at least 29,377 men and 35,644 women in Portugal, according to the reported cases.
Of the total number of deaths, 945 were men and 930 women.
The highest number of deaths continues to be concentrated in people over 80 years of age.
The Covid-19 pandemic has already caused at least 929,391 deaths and more than 29.3 million cases of infection in 196 countries and territories, according to a review by the French agency AFP.
The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected at the end of December in Wuhan, a city in central China.
