The new four-star hotel, which is projected expected to open in 2021, is to have 210 rooms, making it the largest CR7 unit to date. It is to be located centrally, according to the company.
"It is on the Rive Gauche [Left Bank], next to River Seine, between the metro stations of Austerlitz and Lyon,” Pestana said in a statement, adding that the project is currently in a preliminary phase of securing licences.
“Like the other five hotel units of the Pestana CR7 Lifestyle Hotels brand, this is a 50-50 investment partnership between Pestana Hotel Group and Cristiano Ronaldo,” in which Pestana is responsible for managing the unit, the company said.
As for Ronaldo, who currently plays for the Italian club, Juventus, was quoted as saying that “it makes perfect sense for the Pestana CR7 brand to be implemented in Paris, one of the most visited cities in the world.”
José Roquette, chief development officer of the Pestana group, agreed that the new Paris hotel should help the brand boost “its global visibility”.
At present Pestana CR7 Lifestyle Hotels has one hotel in Lisbon and one in Funchal, on Ronaldo's native island of Madeira, but further openings are expected soon in Madrid, New York, Marrakech and Paris, with a total of 800 rooms.
After these openings, Pestana will overall have more than 90 hotels under management in 19 countries.
