Meanwhile the Bons Sons and Sol da Caparica festivals also kick off today and run until Sunday. Bons Sons takes place in Cem Soldos near Tomar while the Sol Da Caparica is staged in Almada.
Altogether the two central festivals offer more than 80 concerts featuring Portuguese bands and music.
