The PAN party member warns that compelling citizens to use this app is contrary to “Community directives” and “discriminates against those people who may not even have access to mobile phones or a level of digital literacy that allows them to know what the use of the app is consciously, even for the sake of data privacy”.

In the view of the PAN, the use of the StayAway Covid app “must remain optional”, as the “invasion of everyone's privacy” may be at stake and there are “issues of privacy and data protection that are in conflict”.

Also CDS, Bloco de Esquerda and Iniciativa Liberal are against this measure, which could potentially see fine of between €100 and €500 for those who fail to download the app
